Upon its release, the Canon RF 100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM Lens is the lightest lens with a 300mm focal length and f2.8 maximum aperture. Its impressive focal range and nine circular aperture blades make it a top choice for photographing landscapes, sports, and events. When paired with a Canon EOS R Series camera, this lens can reach its full potential with six stops of optical image stabilization. Weighing just 5.8 lbs, it is a lightweight and versatile option for capturing stunning shots, even in less light conditions.

Excellent Image Quality

The Canon RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens provides exceptional optical performance with clear and sharp image quality across the entire frame. The lens’s optical design incorporates several high-quality components, including one fluorite lens, four UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass elements, a fluorine coating, and Canon’s SSC (Super Spectra Coating), which helps minimize lens flare and ghosting.

Constant f/2.8 Maximum Aperture

This lens manages to provide an impressive f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout its entire zoom range, which provides numerous advantages such as great low-light performance, stunning bokeh, and high shutter speeds.

Optical Image Stabilization

The Canon RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens comes equipped with built-in optical Image Stabilization, ensuring consistently sharp image results by reducing camera shake by up to 5.5 stops. When combined with an EOS R-series camera equipped with In Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), the Coordinated IS feature allows for even greater correction, up to 6 stops. This feature provides more reliable handheld performance and clearer details in low-light situations, without the need to increase ISO or decrease the shutter speed, resulting in superior image quality.

Control Ring For Direct Setting Changes

The Canon RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens features a Control ring on the lens barrel that enables direct adjustment of various settings, such as shutter speed, aperture, and exposure compensation. This ring is located towards the front of the lens and provides an additional dial alongside the main dial and quick control dial on the EOS R camera. This feature offers photographers greater control and convenience when adjusting camera settings on the go.

Focus Preset Button

The Canon RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens has a focus preset button located near the back of the lens that is easily accessible with your right hand during use. This feature enables photographers to pre-focus on a specific spot where they expect action to occur, and then quickly jump to the memorized position using the focus preset button. The lens also offers the option of full autofocus or manual focus operation. Additionally, there is a sliding switch on the barrel of the lens that can be used to program the AF preset, recall it, or set the button to function as a programmable button by sliding the switch to “L-Fn.

Compatible with Extenders

The Canon RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens is compatible with the Extender RF1.4x or Extender RF2x, which can be attached to the lens to get even closer to the subject. With the Extender RF1.4x, the effective telephoto power can be expanded to 140-420mm at f/4, while the Extender RF2x provides an effective range of 200-600mm at f/5.6. These extenders enable photographers to capture images with even greater telephoto reach when required, and they can be removed easily to convert the lens back to f/2.8 for low-light situations.
