According to Canon officials, this ultra-wide focal length range of the lens is well-suited for photographers or users who are seeking vlogging and selfie-style video creation. Apart from this, this lens has an excellent performance when it comes to taking landscape and travel photography.

The RF-S 10-18mm lens weighs just 0.33 pounds (150 grams) and measures 1.8 inches (44.9 millimeters) in length when retracted, making it portable and lightweight to use. To utilize the lens at its widest focal length of 10mm, the zoom ring must be smoothly rotated from its retracted position. Canon claims that this design offers a smoother operation compared to their other retracted lens designs.

When it comes to image stabilization (IS), this RF-S 10-18mm lens indeed comes with excellent IS, offering a stabilization rating of four stops. When combined with coordinated IS, it can achieve up to six stops of stabilization, allowing the lens’ IS system to work in tandem with a camera body’s image stabilization.

For video recording, Canon says that the new 10-18mm lens exhibits minimal focus breathing, ensuring consistent framing during focus adjustments. The lens incorporates an STM autofocus drive system, which Canon guarantees offers seamless and silent autofocus operation, enhancing the overall video shooting experience.
