The 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Lens by Sigma is a highly regarded prime lens designed for Sony E-mount cameras. It is part of Sigma’s Art line in their Global Vision Series, known for its exceptional optical quality and sturdy build.

This lens features an advanced optical construction that includes three “F” Low Dispersion (FLD) elements and four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements. These elements work together to minimize chromatic aberrations, resulting in images with reduced color fringing and enhanced color accuracy. Additionally, the lens incorporates a pair of aspherical elements, including one positioned at the rear, to correct various distortions and aberrations, ensuring sharp and well-corrected images.

The 15-element-in-11-group optical design of the lens is optimized to maintain consistent peripheral brightness and sharpness, even when shooting at its wide maximum aperture of f/1.4. This allows photographers to achieve excellent image quality throughout the frame, with good edge-to-edge sharpness and minimal light falloff.

To enhance contrast and color fidelity, the lens elements are treated with a Super Multi Coating, which minimizes flare and ghosting. This coating helps to maintain high contrast and accurate colors, even in challenging lighting conditions or when shooting against bright light sources.

The lens is equipped with a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) that ensures fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus performance. This autofocus system provides quick and accurate focusing, allowing photographers to capture sharp images with ease. Additionally, full-time manual focus override is available, enabling precise manual adjustments simply by rotating the focus ring.

With nine rounded diaphragm blades, the lens can produce pleasing bokeh and smooth out-of-focus areas when shooting with a shallow depth of field. This allows photographers to create images with a pleasing separation between the subject and the background, emphasizing the main subject and adding a sense of depth to the image.
