In the 17-year history of the Red Bull Illume Image Quest contest, the world’s largest action sports photo competition, a woman has won the grand prize for the first time. Australian photographer Krystle Wright impressed over 50 contest judges with an extraordinary photo capturing climber Angela VanWiemeersch ascending a cliff in Long Canyon, Utah.

“This is incredible. I wanted to earn my place in this industry and my work to get recognized. Red Bull Illume is the only platform that truly recognizes what we do,” says Wright.
